Filmed 1/8/2013 - Episode 2 of the series "Disc Golf Champions of the Carolinas" profiles Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina's Vanessa Chambers, a two-time women's open world champion and three-time PDGA Player of the Year. After winning the world open title in Charlotte in 1986, she became the first disc golf champion hailing from the Carolinas. Chambers successfully defended her crown in Toronto in 1987, and in 1988 she was recognized as the sport's top player for a third consecutive campaign. A pioneer in women's disc golf, Chambers was inducted into the PDGA Hall of Fame in 1993. Future episodes will feature golfers either born in or residing in the Carolinas at the time of their PDGA or USDGC championships, either on the professional or amateur level. Episode 2 was filmed at the Trophy Lakes Disc Golf Park in John's Island, South Carolina. Vanessa was joined on the course by her husband Coleman Thompson, son Connor Thompson (who plays collegiately at Clemson University), and son Greg Thompson.
